Money isn't the most important thing in life, but it is essential to a political campaign -- especially when the opposition is well-funded.  As a grassroots effort we aren't expecting to get a lot of huge donations from special interests, and we don't want them if they'll be wanting any special favors once the election is won.

Instead of one donation of a thousand dollars or ten thousand from someone who won't miss it, I'd much rather see the support that comes from a hundred people like me giving ten dollars each for better representation in the state legislature.  Can you spare a few bucks to help the guy who wants to represent you win the primary on March 3rd?

To put it in perspective:

If you skip the 65-cent doughnut on your morning commute when you stop for your coffee and breakfast taco, in one month you'll have saved enough money to donate $13 to the campaign (and you might lose a pound or two in the bargain.)  If you decide to cut back on your smoking and give up one cigarette a day from January 1st to the November election -- and donate the money saved to the campaign -- you'll breathe easier knowing your healthier choice made us healthier to the tune of $107.45.  (That's 307 days, divided by 20, figuring $7 per pack - but please don't wait until November to share, as we need the money up front.)
